Master Gardeners become certified based on successfully completing the Master Gardener Training course (MGT). Course Details. The Master Gardener Program is administered at the county level where recruitment, training, and volunteer service occur. Master Gardener trainees are required to participate in a minimum of 40 hours of classroom training, score 80 percent on the final exam, and fulfill 50 hours of volunteer service. Our next Master Gardener training program in Hamilton County will be in the fall 2020; it will be conducted each Thursday for 10 weeks, beginning September 17th. Classes will be from 9am to 4pm.
